Hi from a newbie to Torts and this forum!
Hi all,
As the title says, brand new here and a newbie to the Tortoise world. I've always owned animals, the usual cats, hamsters etc and I've had a number of rescues like pigeons, squirrels and other things. However my lastest love is my gorgeous but always hungry Leopard Tortoise called ' Testudo ' (I know, not the most original name, but I love Roman history so it had to be her name!) I am her second owner, my fiance got her for me as her previous owner a little boy was 'Bored' with her after a year of ownership. I've owned her a year (or rather she owns me) but I am guessing she is perhaps a little over two years old. I've joined your fantastic forum to learn more about her needs and how to make sure she has the best life possible. Thanks and Hi! Anna-Maria |

Hi emma mcraf,
Thanks for the warm welcome, you have quite a family list! If I can work it out, I'll try and post a picture of my little 'Testudo' |

You need five posts before adding a photo.
There's a link here advising how to do it. http://www.shelledwarriors.co.uk/for...ad.php?t=18212 It'd be lovely to see Testudo. Am I right in thinking that was the name for the Roman battle formation where they brought all their shields around them? I've taught it to my kids as the tortoise formation. It's a great name.

Not quite right Emma you can post pictures with your very first post just that your first 5 posts need to be approved.
Welcome to the forum Anna-Maria Testudo means tortoise in latin, so you have a tortoise named tortoise Danny

Yes you are correct, it is the battle formation whereby the Romans interlocked their shield to make a shape much like our beloved friends Ahhhh I see you too have had to go through the Romans projects for the kiddies. I'll look to post a picture of my little 'Testudo' shortly. |
