Food for 5 month old Hermann
Hi,
I'm getting a 5 year old Hermann tortoise at the weekend. I have my table, lights etc. set up but I'm not sure about his food. I've bought a weed growing kit but obviously that will take a while - what should I feed until then? Thanks |

Hi, florette crispy is a safe feed in the winter, you can buy that in most supermarkets including lidl.
Romaine, rocket and lambs lettuce are also safe feeds. A really good website to look at is The Tortoise Table. http://m.thetortoisetable.org.uk/m/tortoise_home_1.asp

find out what its been fed on and stick with that for a while then make gradual changes and don't be surprised if it goes off its food for a few days as some can be stressed by a move.

This Winter has been very mild (well it has in the SE) so there are plenty of weeds growing outside if you look for them:0)
Try www.tortoises.net for a great list of plants with pictures. I have seen my first fully flowering daffodils this year, which is way to early for them:0)
