Near death experience outdoors
I came home from the racing last night to find Rodders upside down in the outdoor enclosure with head and legs completely tucked in. I don't know how long it might have been like that, certainly not all afternoon as it would have been baked to death in the heat of the direct sun.
It is quite big now, about 6 inches and 6 years old so you'd think it would have been able to get up again but obviously not, the soil is not loose so I don't know why it couldn't flip over again, you could see scraped bits in the soil where it had been trying but perhaps it was so hot that it gave up quite quickly. Luckily the sun moves off that area about 5pm or it would have been curtains. It recovered after a long soak but anyway, it's worth checking in this weather in particular just in case. I like to know their whereabouts but there's not a lot you can do if you are not there Last edited by Alan1; 28-05-2012 at 08:52 AM. Reason: wrong age :) |

Oh thank goodness you came home when you did!
I check on mine a lot throughout the day and the kids are well-trained to peek in periodically when they're outside too. It is a worry though. Glad that Rodders is okay and not any worse the wear for it.

Glad he is all ok, and yes they are a worry. I've come home from work and found xena on her back just Dkt laying there, she usually corrects herself and there enough big rocks logs to use but this one occasion she was like that, I also didn't know how long she had been like that so I helped her over x
