Abandoned turtle/tortoise
Hi, I've already posted elsewhere but my query now is as follows. My friend recently moved into a flat and found what she thought was a tortoise in the garden. She immediately thought it had been abandoned by the previous owners of the flat who were not nice people. I'm now looking after it and I posted a photo of it on this forum. A few people thought that it might be a turtle. Can someone please advise. Thanks in advance.

Hi I run a sanctuary for turtles, it is indeed a yellow belly -female around 4 yrs old, her shell is awfully dried out and shows damage down to obviously being kept in the incorrect setup, she will need a minimum 3ft tank with heater, filter, uvb light and basking/heat lamp, also either stick on basking shelf or make your own from stones but they take up the tank space so better off with stick on ones. She looks a lovely girl though, well done on finding her.we took on a massive 15 inch red eared that had been dumped in a field without water for upto 2 months, she's half the weight she should be, and badly dehydrated ,we have had to teach her to eat again as had no real access to food or any water so very dehydrated and lucky to be alive but on the mend now.x
