Well firstly he is still alive which is good, progress is slow but I know now it's going to take a while, if ever, to get him back on track.
I am going to be completely honest and admit when I saw him unfortunately my ego took over a bit and I thought gosh it's a Chaco and I bought it, I knew it wasn't in great shape to look at it but went ahead. Now I look at him and he is just like any other tortoise, I care for him everyday and it wouldn't matter if he was a more common species I would do the same for them all. Really I am saying all torts are special, don't just get a tort because they are not common, it can bring expense, worry and heartbreak. There's nothing wrong with Hermanns etc, if I lose him it will be heartbreaking not because he's a Chaco but because he is my tortoise. Sorry for waffling, I hope I got across what I meant and thanks for asking about him, I do appreciate it

I know Vicky you think they are all special
You know up until last year, I didnt keep Horsfield torts either, then my mother landed with two she saw in a pet shop and felt sorry for them. To be honest I was a bit disapointed as I didnt want to keep them, but you know now, I could easily say they are brilliant tortoises and a joy to keep, I liked them so much I got another one I dont know how much longer I will have them but they are fantastic tortoises in every way. Thanks for that vote of confidence Clare
