Default New Career

Hey there folks!!! Eric here just starting a new thread because I'm bored. I've not logged into the site in a long time. Anyway I just would like to say that I've started into a new career that I know I will enjoy. TRUCK DRIVING! Yeppers, That's right, trucking. Over the road trucking that is.... and yes, I will be away from home a lot, but for this first year I HAVE to be away due to a contract I signed. Since I have a USA Passport I will also be getting to haul to Canada. I'm happy! After the first year I can look for a regional route and be home about 2 or 3 days/nights a week rather than 4 days/nights a month. I was recently away at a trucking school for four weeks which included the in's and out's of the truck. I had to learn the engine compartment and how to find defects, the air break system, how to drive pulling a 53 foot long trailer and how to shift gears in a 10speed. I was also challenged with parking skills, yep...one of the skills was to learn how to parallel park the rig....that's a total of 73feet of vehicle being maneuvered into a parallel parking spot. NOT EASY HAHAHA I graduated and passed all of the courses earlier than most of my classmates because it seemed so second nature to me and I adapted very quickly to it all and it was my fist time every driving an 18 wheeler. Anyway, I just thought I would share. AND when I will be getting my own rig assigned to me in the late/end of August so I'm thrilled about it.
