Most things we do in life are a survival instinct, but seeing as humans class what is "intelligence" then of course we are going to skew it to make us look good. Humans are but stupid creatures with great power ;o)
Depends what you class as communication. I think Plops has a great power to communicate to me what she needs. If she's trying to climb out of her cage, I know she's bored so I take her on an adventure. If she stands on her food slab looking disapproving, I know she's hungry, so I go get her food. And if she doesn't get these things when she demands them, she DEFINITELY sulks. |

No, he neglected to inform you that he's actually got himself a paper round.

I am new to this forum, and I am thinking of getting a tortoise, I was just wondering, which is the most intelligent tortoise? and which has the best temperament? My friend has had one for four years and they sound very affectionate and funny, she was telling me how it had a small pot with water in and it stepped on it, knocking it up into it's own face like when someone steps on a rake haha, also, I saw somebody post that they can recognize the names of their water bowl, their own name and the names of two different toy tortoises, although they did not realize, at least inititially they were toys as the tort headbutted them, in fact this may have been from Yuna :L
