Hiya, no not a silly question!, Dead nettles dont sting, My tort Zen loves the white flowers, isnt so keen on the leaves mind you, but is always chomping through the greens to get the flowers!

Maybe its just me being thick too... but dead nettle is a species of weed, as opposed to a stinging nettle that is dead... sorry if thats not what you meant at all... its just the way I read it lol

Oops, although I haven't given any yet, I thought "dead nettle" was your regular stinging nettle that you'd pulled up for a while so it "died" and lost it's sting

Dead nettle (Lamium), comes in two varieties White and Red and the seeds can be bought off the shelled warrior shops. They are different to the common stinging nettle but are called dead nettles due to the fact they resemble common stinging nettle, but do not sting.

Both Dead nettles and Stinging nettles are safe to eat. My guys especially the leopards prefer the stinging variety as I think the distinct smell of the dead nettle puts them off a little

I had a female graeca that ate stinging nettles that were growing in my garden. I wouldnt actually feed them to her.
