This is why they say in moderation, and these are found in Veg, you have to guess at feeding the right amounts.

I think it kind of proves what we said on the other post about Food, where most of us suggested weeds were the better option than most supermarket veg and fruits.
I think maybe Kale,is acceptable in rare circumstances - it does say small amounts are ok of plants with oxalic acid in them, like dandys. I do mix some ripped up dandylions in with lilys usual food, but that is in with all the other weeds I give. Its is NEVER just dandilion and say...salad leaves.
But to me, its quite astounding that most of the fruit is not very good at all - is it.
Even things like apple!!

Gosh...i was so misinformed going back about 1year ago..who knows what damage i did to Lily. Diet of dandyliion, kale, cabbage, bits of pear and apple -And he used to eat creeping buttercup. To THINK what i could have done, and what perhaps it has contributed to.
I blame myself for Lilys slight pyramidding...that is all me folks. Probably due to the crappy diet of old eh....

Pellets are made from plants too, but you don't get to pick what plants went into the pellets, you do get to chose what plants go into your torts diet.

A good article what it does say though is variety we are never sure what our weeds might contain as there has not been that much analysis done. at least we know what vegetables contain.

We know some of what vegetables contain, they don't analyze for a lot of the potentially harmful chemicals. So we know no more than we do about weeds.

Obviously other than tortoises don't naturally have a diet consisting of vegetables, go figure.
