Feeding pot plants

I was wondering what keepers use to feed potted plants, (if anything) intended for tort food, the chicken manure pellets, claim to be organic.
Nit 4.3, cal 9.0 %, before torts came to live , we used Phostphogen.

I've read that its best to use the poorest you can find as most us have garden soils that are much richer than the thin soils over limestone for instance that would be found in some Hermann habitats. The nitrates that are in fertilisers are not thought to be good for the tortoises and many people say they are not good for humans either. Maybe most of the plants tortoises can eat don't need rich soils to grow quite well.

I've failed to grow quite a few tortoise food plants but I don't think that it was a lack of soil nutrients that caused it. Hope this helps a bit.

That's true, natural nitrates are all around for pants to take in, as a pep up, i thought a natural fert, like chicken manure might be ok, as it is also high in calcium. In the wild plants that are abundant have been fertilised by animals, urea is high in nitrates.
