7 day diet plan / Weeds
Hi guys
I am having real trouble sourcing weeds! Not because I do not walk much but because I am really wary of what to feed them as I don't want to poison my babies. Obviously I can easily spot dandelions ( would be an idiot if I cant!). But I wondered is there any comming and glaringly obvious plants I can give them? I was thinking along the lines of things as common as Buttupy cups / daisys / grass ect? To tie in with this does anyone have a straightroward diet plan incorporating store brought products? My torts seem to love :
I suppose what I am trying to understand is if there is a diet I can buy for them thats safe and varied enough to keep them healthy! |

Sticky bud, plaintain and clover are my faves to spot? I'm not very good at identifying either but it all comes with practise

I think giving what ibiza suggested would be a very good start. Bramble, vetch etc are easy to find.

I think it depends on what part of the country you are in. I have never seen vetch growing wild in Kent and milk thistle I didn't know existed until I bought SW seeds. Have you got a local nature reserve near you? They often have leaflets of local weeds/wild plants with pictures. Don't take the weeds from the reserve though.

Wouldn't it be great if the supermarkets did 'tortoise food in a bag'. Fresh weeds and plants chopped up ready to eat.
I would definately buy it even if it was expensive. I might apply for 'DRAGONS DEN' and take weeds/plant chopped up it a bag and see if they would invest in me.

Komodo then, a complete diet that would be sustaining your tort's along with the supermarket salad mix, 1-2% of the tort's body weight once or twice a week if stretched is not a great deal. Plus weeds/plant's/salad mix other day's, varied diet. Pre Alpin Herb flakes/cob's can be added in. Quite a Varied diet. Cucumber slice as a treat occasionly.
