Sulcata / Leopard Winter Housing
Hey all just started this threat because I’m interested in seeing other peoples Sulcata / Leopard Tortoise winter houses.
Here are the pics of mine that I build for Poppy allot of you have seen them before. It holds the heat very well never drops below 20 with a basking spot of around 32. I have a 3ft tubular heater for back ground heat & a 150w ceramic bulb just for back up. I have covered the roof with foil the inside don’t look pretty but it does the job lol. Come on post your picks need idea’s for the future |

My leopard is housed indoors Minty, he does have the run of the kitchen dinner. He is already really grumpy about the cold weather and winter hasn't even started yet.
I would insulate as best as you can especially the roof (sorry if I am teaching you to suck eggs) but weather has been mild so far you might struggle in December. I would get some sort of substrate too |

Old'ish pic's but inside the insulated shed in winter i rig up a type of hot box, the Leo's retreating to the back or near the opening area is cooler, i can get some 100f around the lamp's on a good day. Alow out if winter weather is kind. Tube heater night heat. The perspex and bit's stripped out near spring.

My leopards are indoors on a table that my husband made. Its 6ft x 4ft which is fine for now. They also have the run of the kitchen and they often get in dogs bed. I have underfloor heating in there.
I also keep the heating on all the time, its not on mega hot but just keeps the house warm. In nicer weather they have the whole run of the garden (it isnt big). Will put a piccy on later of their indoor run |
