What does the + mean?

At the bottom, where the stats are, there is a bit that says active users. Why do some people have a little white + next to their name? I thought maybe it's admin or something but then I'm sure I saw a non admin person with one. Just curious.

I read this thread and thought it was really strange because I've never seen any + signs........... then I realised that this is because I have no friends
