another related question for you all.......
we see the pellets as the only way to get her to take in water ... when ever we put out water ...she walks by...... we have seen her drink once ....just before she produced her first batch of eggs ... we thought she was ill.. please give all tips on taking a tort to water and making it drink...... steve |

Most of the water they need comes from the weeds they eat, though in weather like we're having at the moment they need extra. Water is also needed for soaking and bathing. Not to mention they can also take water in.. err.. backwards through the tail! Water to bath in encourages them to empty the bladder which relieves the load off the kidneys. Med torts in particular will only release water when there's an abundance of it and they can drink - simply because in the climates where they come from rain can be rare.
