Hatchling with no nostrils
Our most recent batch of hatchlings that hatched on 6th Aug includes one which appears to have no nostrils and a cleft beak. After the first week we became concerned as it showed no interest in food and remained buried in the substrate during the day. Upon close inspection, the deformity was discovered, however this last week it has become nearly as lively as the rest and has actually gained 2 gms. I'd be interested to learn if anyone else has experienced this with their torts and what the outcome was. Incidentally, this batch of hatchlings was the result of the first eggs (5) laid by our younger hermanns, 4 of which were fertile and one embryo appeared to have died half way through incubation. The incubation temperature was approx 32 deg cent and humidity of 78-80%, I'm wondering if the temp is a little high, although we have had no problems with other batches.
