Default email from zoomed natural forest tortoise food

I sent..

Hi I have purchased some of your natural forest tortoise food but there is no feeing guide on the container what is the recommended daily feeing amount for red foot tortoises ?

thanks nikki

this is the reply i got.....

Nikki,

It will all depend on the size of the tortoise as well as its appetite. You don’t want to overfeed but offer enough food. We recommend feeding the pellets almost free choice to these animals. They can be moistened and mixed with any additional diet items and offered to the tortoise. If the animal leaves much food left over after 24 hours, the amount should be reduced. If the animal eats all it is offered, slowly increase the amount offered until the animal finishes all or most of the pellets.

I have a tortoise that is 15cm approximately and I feed it ½ cup of food mixed with chopped greens and other vegetables 3 times per week. Depending on the weather I increase/decrease food a bit.

I hope this information is helpful.

Kind regards,
