Star with RNS
Hi
I bought 2 5 year old stars 7 weeks ago after 3 weeks the female started making a whistling noise so i got her into the vets asap they put her on 0.17ml injections of engemycin once a day for 21 days it seems to of helped in the first few days but no real improvement since she's going back to the vets on Tuesday is there anything people have used with success i can ask the vets about. is she ever gonna be able to live with the male again or with she have to remain on her on even when its cleared up. |

Are you keeping her at 30C day and night? If you aren't, this temperature will help the antibiotics work better. You have to do this for the whole course of the antibiotics.

I found nebulizing worked for my golden greek male when he had a runny nose after having him only 2 weeks, I nebulized for 30 minutes twice a day for a week, he was on antibiotics as well and ai also used a saline nasal spray in his nares to keep it clear, got rid of it and in a year he hasn't had a sniffle since x

You can try Ciprofloxacin or Doxycycline Stay away from Enrofloxacin as most Stars are allergic to it.

so just back from the vets. She seems to seems to think using nebuliser is a good idea so we've been given all the stuff we need just gotta find somewhere on the high street where i can buy one. Unless there anyone in the midlands who might be wanted to get rid of one or lend one out for a few weeks ( bit of along shot i know)
also changed her antibiotic to 20ml of marbocyl injections every 2 days and now eye drops twice a day for 10 days. i think I'm gonna change there substance today back to top soil as there less dust and i can up the humidity.. Matt |
