I hope someone can help me here... anyone watch the Croatia/Spain match?

I might have missied something but there were two players of the team from Spain in front of any Croatian player... that I could see... one of them scored... how was that not off sides?

I will be rooting for England tomorrow... hope they play better than the last match.

The Spanish player that received the ball was just on side, he then passed it to his teammate to score, that player was clearly offside when the ball was played, but as he didn't play the ball he wasn't offside.

Hope England play better too.

I must have missed it because I saw it as both were clearly way off sides... but what do I know. Croatia should have won it.

I'm lookin' forward to Englands match tomorrow.

Another question... how do they select the players. I can't understand how Rooney was selected. I know he's not a starter... but still. Is he in the class that is the best of England. Don't get me wrong but it's the same thing as selecting Beckam.

...and Ranaldo was playing for Portugal?

In the slow motion replay he might have been just on side.

I'm not a big fan of the "beautiful game", I only really watch international matches and of course England, so I have no idea why the coach picked Rooney.

I presume Christian Ranaldo was playing for Portugal because he is Portuguese.

I watched a couple of "football" games a few years ago in TEXAS, I had no idea what was going on.

my coworkers 'force' me to watch the game. I usually don't watch until it gets close to the superbowl.

I thought with Renaldo playing for Madrid and all. I thought he was spanish.

Christiano Ronaldo was born in Madeira, not the cake, the island which is Portuguese. The original Ronaldo was just known simply as Ronaldo, he was Brazilian and was world footballer of the year at least a couple of times.

Offside involves second phase nonsense these days, active and inactive players etc, they brought that in because women were just beginning to understand the offside rule so FIFA thought it best to change it and keep women guessing

Lionel Messi is not only the greatest player in the world but the greatest player of all time and he's still only about 24. He plays for Barcelona and Argentina and should be watched at every opportunity because his like will never be seen again.

Rooney is England's star player and was unable to play in the first two games because he was suspended.

I was supporting Ireland because of my Irish connections but now I will be supporting Spain.

Don't ever watch cricket Ed or you will be bored to death, they even stop for tea breaks and lunch! Wimps

I was also surprised to see Messi playing for portugal. I thought he played for Chelsea.

I thought off sides was a cut and dry foul...

Messi plays for Barcelona and his country is Argentina.

Offside these days is down to how the linesman interprets it, it can look a cut and dried offside but there are various factors involved

the guy who recieves the ball is onside as he is level with the last defender when the ball leaves the player's foot http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5NgpSrZHx8 he then passes it square across to the guy who scores, he is onside because it he was not in front of the ball when it was played to him

simples
