Sorry to hear this, break ups are so sad I have to agree about brothers I have 2 and I could knock them out sometimes both of them are so very selfish and inconsiderate of their other halves sometimes

Awe Bindi thats aweful after such a long time. I agree with post that says make it clear to your sister-in-law that you wish to stay friends I also think you should make that clear to your brother thats what your doing. She has been in your life a long time!!. it's never easy in situations like this. My sister split from her hubby after 16 years & 2 children. He was having an affair, my sister knows I cant stand the site of the little prat & trust me so does he!!!.

I don't have any brothers. A sad situation - been there done that after 23 years of marriage. Do stay friends with them both though. Out of my husband's family his brother and wife cut us out completely, his sister and parents have been inconsistent sometimes sending birthday presents and then only a card and then presents again. The same with Christmas, although the parents did send some money (this fluctuates considerably and I don't think they've heard of inflation)! Of course as far as any of them are concerned I am persona non grata. |

How could you be personna non grata Clare
Well my sis in law came round last night, we talked, had a few Baileys coffees and then I made her watch Benidorm to give her a break from crying - bless her I made it clear that I wasn't taking sides and that she was family and always welcome at ours. Whatever happens for them it's going to be a difficult road but i know they've got to sort things out for themselves one way or another Thanks again everyone, it's so lovely to have a bit of support from you guys when you need it xxxxx |

I do kinda think that the pressure we all put ourselves under at Christmas and the New Year can sometimes have a bit of an adverse effect on relationships - all that build-up, money spent and so on and then when it's all over the notoriously depressing month of January to contend with... |

So sorry Bindi
Do you think they need time apart and may work something out? ... could they still stay friends? Very hard when the family dynamics changes ... look after yourself and sending big hugs
