Street light switch off.
Has anyone else had their street lights turned off at night? Ours go off at midnight. It's absolutely lovely, so dark. I open my eyes at night and it's like they are still closed. It's so much easier to sleep in total darkness. When we moved here 17 years ago the lights went off at 9pm, I loved it, then it changed and they stayed on all night, I'm so glad they are off again.
The only downside is if you need a wee in the night. I used to leave the lights off and use the street lights but now I have to turn my kindle light on. Don't want to use a lamp as it seems so bright in total darkness and hurts your eyes.

No street lights where I live!
I was brought up in a town but moved to the country when I got married (many, many years ago!) everyone used to laugh at me because I couldnt see to walk down the road now even the moon seems too bright sometimes |

Even the main road through the town only has the odd light on here and there. It's a good job hubby's cars headlights go on when he unlocks the car or he would have trouble finding it when he goes to work in the early hours.

I wish they would switch ours off, it's right outside my bedroom window, so I have to have black out blinds

They go off here at midnight, it is lovely, I don't see the point of having them on all night when almost everyone is in bed, they go on again at 5.30am.

I'm not too keen driving home late at night from a friends where the lights are turned off. I've encountered a cyclist with no lights, a motorbike with no lights and plenty of kids hanging about. I drive with the car doors locked and am always glad to get home.
We're lucky not to have lights right outside our property but we do have security lights all the way around.

I think it's good for people that have them right outside their bedroom window to have them switched off, I can understand that, but if I heard something outside, it wouldn't be good for looking to see what or who it was!
if you had to go out in an emergency, I don't know about anyone else, but I really don't like driving in the dark, I think it's dangerous but it saves electricity so lots of fores and against
