vet appointment
I'm so mad. I was on my way to the vets today. Hero has a problem with his eyes and the cream the vetgave me was not working. On my way they phoned and told me there was no vet because she had left for an emergancy. How is that right? What about Hero?

It is not easy for us to go to the vets. We don't drive and usually take a taxi. Today we took the bus but found it wouldn't go near the vets. We had plenty time so we walked. I have a disabilty so not easy. What does emergancy call out mean? Did someone pay her double so all the appointments getforgotten about? Sirely that should not happen?

I'd be furious, wasted time and wasted money and you still have the worry of Heros eyes

Usually emergancies are the Zoo's, because apparently they come first. an appoitment is an appointment, if the vet cane be their there SHOULD be a stand in as caledonia said.

My vet usually gives us the option to wait for the vet to get back. If they're expected at a reasonable time.

I think Alan is right there should be a seperate call out vet. We were offered the option of waiting for hours for a London vet who know nothing about tortoises. No phone call. No appology. No offer of another appointment. Bad I think.

I agree - if you have an appointment or if you're sat in the waiting room for a drop-in clinic, the vet shouldn't just disappear on another job. Animals must sometimes need putting to sleep in their homes, others get injured in car accidents, etc. I can understand the need for a vet to leave the surgery to help an animal elsewhere, but surely those aready waiting for the vet shouldn't be left in the lurch.
I'd never considered this before, but it's an interesting point.
