Old tortoise
Hello,
I'm taking care of this approx 70 year old tortoise, she's just out of hibernation (she sleeps for around 6 months every year) with a 28cm SCL and weighs around 3.5kg (which should go up to around 4kg). Any ideas on species? Her shell has been fixed a couple of times so I think there's some varnish or epoxy so dont mind the colour, I think she's black. Thank you!

My guess would be Ibera with a very crusty looking shell

It is a female Spur-thigh, Testudo graeca ibera

Thank you, T.g.Ibera was also my guess however my vet was also considering the possibility that it was an Iranian tortoise T.g.zarudnyi, any thoughts about that?
