Bearded Dragon

Hi all

As i know a lot of you guys own other pets i thought this was the best place to start.

I'm thinking of getting a bearded dragon. One of my neighbours was has very kindly offered to give me one of her baby ones after i gave her my rabbit run, and she's done me an amazing deal on a viv. All i need now is all the info i can get hold of before i get one.

I need to know things like basic care, substrates, storing live food (yuck!), bathing and anything else i can to prepare myself.

Thanks in advance as i know you guys are always a massive help.

I use slate effect tiles on the floors of my vivs much safer and easier to clean before this I used kitchen paper

I store the livefood in plastic tanks like http://www.netpetshop.co.uk/p-29724-...l-animals.aspx with some greens and/or gutloading formula and water gel. They then get dusted with calcium 5 times a week and nutrabol twice a week before being fed....

Babies do need feeding livefood 2-3 times a day and can eat quite a lot :O lol
They do make fab pets tho and do become very tame ours have never biten or even tried to, they are skitty when they're tiny though .

Aww that's ace, bearded dragons are awesome little things

There really quite easy to look after.
Now as for food the best live food I found with my lizards is cockroaches. Now it sounds horrible but they can't jump, they don't bite and they dont make any noise crickets are just the most horrible little things I won't have them in the house anymore! Cockroaches will breed really easily and a breeding colony is really easy to get hold of We bought a mini colony about five years ago for £20 and haven't bought any live food for our lizards since so it's very economical!
I give him a few every other day and he has greens everyday
They grow quickly so sprinkle meals with nutrobal so they have lots of calcium so they grow nice and healthy.
My dragon has been kept on sand since he was six weeks old but this is a very controversial topic. Although it is quite right that they can get impacted by eating sand, mine is fed all food in pots so he does not get the opportunity to eat sand! If you are going to be putting live food in the tank loose it is best to have tiles or reptile carpet

he's 18 months old, and his tempremant is amazing, i got him home and he fell straight asleep on my shoulder.x

They do have Amazing tempremants, sooo friendly and tame My two love being handled and having a wee wonder around.
Zeus looks a lovely colour When you said baby I was expecting a tiny one hehe
