Some pics of George today in his indoor tortoise table.
Here are some pics of my little man! He was found by my Aunts neighbour walking around in her garden, and we couldn't find his owners, so we took him on. We got him in October 2011, and he didn't look like he'd been cared for well, he had pyramiding of his shell, and the vet said he was underweight. He also had shell wounds where he had been attacked by either a fox or a dog poor boy. He seems to be doing very well now, but he much prefers the Summer so he can be out in the garden which he absolutely loves!

Well done for taking him in, we like a nice rescue story with a happy ending, I would change the wood chip substrate to top soil, it will help with humidity, keep it slightly moist, not wet and not dry and dusty, give him a bigger water dish that he can sit in easily. Humidity and hydration are key for good shell growth, although his wont recover, but you don't want it to get any worse. Are you giving him calcium supplement ? You could try him with a cuttle fish. Well done and good luck, he's lovely.

Thank you! I just changed from top soil to cypress mulch! The top soil made such a blooming mess, and became very dusty in the dry end, and he constantly looked like a grey tortoise! In the green box to the left, he has very damp cyprus mulch, so he can go in there for humidity, it has condensation on the inside of the box, so I know it's humid in there.

This is one great setup! I have topsoil on my tables, I know it is messy but changing the water every day in the morning does the job and I have cypress mulch/ timothy hay in the shelter areas, they love it.
Your boy have beautiful eyes.

Thank you very much. My OH made my tortoise table out of fascia boards to my specifications! I have always used top soil, but just got so fed up of the dust in the dry area, so last clean out, I totally changed to cypress mulch. I do have to pour about a litre of water in the damp end every other day to keep it damp enough. Just can't wait for the warm sunny days to get him outside again!
