Default Sadie's still not eating

Hi

I got Sadie for Christmas and she is still not eating properly, she's nibbling but nothing like sandra. She has not went for a poo in about 5 days also so i'm worried.

How long should it take to settle in? How long before i should be worrying?

She's very active in her table, she stomps around all day and loves to make a mess.

I'm bathing her daily and she drinks a little when in there so i'm putting the nutrobal into her bath water.

I forgot how worrying it is when you get a new tort

Thanks All xx

If she's nibbling and keeping hydrated I would not worry too much yet. Give her a bit more time. She may just wake up one day and decide to eat lots

How long is she in the bath, Carla?? Also reptoboost inthe bath might work. I think it's called that. Also, Helen is right and could still be adjusting to her new surroundings. It can take months in some situations.

it can take weeks, 7 weeks for one of mine. however it seems fine if it's going about, probably not used to the food on offer. sometimes a bit of strawberry or tomato will start them off eating

Aww, they don't half worry you eh? As long as you are bathing her she will eat eventually. I would bath her twice a day and try handfeeding, this has worked several times for me with newbies. My last newbie is only eating properly these last few weeks since coming to me in November So try not to worry

Aw thanks everyone, i'll give the other foods a wee go. I've been putting the reptoboost(spelling?) in the bath aswell. She is in the bath for about 15 mins each time.

I'll up the bathing to twice a day to see if that helps.

I don't feel as bad now, it might just take longer than i thought, fingers crossed.

Yeah my little tort took 4 months to start eating!!! He'd have maybe two bites a week but nothing more. The thing I think got him eating was the reptoboost and t rex pellets. Now he's eating everything. A right little pig. Don't tell the folks on here (he he) but I also started getting him out and handling him more than just to and fro from the bidaily baths. Did seem to perk him up and he's so friendly

Don't worry yet. X

Jesus, i'm sure you were up the walls by 4 months!!!

I've been putting the kamodo (spelling again??) pellets in which aren't getting looked at. My other wee tort loves them, though it took her a few weeks to try them.

xx

Yeah I tried the komodo ones to no avail. But someone on here very kindly sent me some t rex ones and since the very first time he tried them he's not stopped eating. Anything. Even took to jack by hedge straight away and I didn't like the taste of that!
4 months was a long time and I couldn't count the amount of times I cried over it. But Eddie wasn't up and active which you said Sadie is so that is good sign to me that she won't take that long. Tis a huge relief tho when you do see them eat everyday! She'll get there. I really do think the baths and handling played a massive part too x
