Sat at the vets now, it is septicaemia
The vet said tortoises "hide" issues well so I probably wouldn't have noticed anything a couple of days ago.
They said his kidneys and liver have taken a bit of a beating from all the white blood cells, but should be strong enough with the antibiotics. (which i have to inject).

They're just doing an xray now.
I'll need to get my wife to take him back to our local vets on Wednesday for another jab as I'm away

Poor little sod

Now back home, fingers crossed indeed

Just trying to feed him some food 'laced' with anti-inflamatories, but he's not having any of it... I just hope he is still eating, otherwise we're going to have to have a pipe put into him.

Such bad timing that I'm leaving at 4am tomorrow, so need to get regular updates from my wife.

For what it's worth, he couldn't tell me 'why' it happened, but recommended I doubled the 'zolcal', and lowered my UV light, possibly adding another

When my wife takes Fiorano to 'our' vet on Wednesday, I'll get her to take Valentino too, have a blood test done on her.

there is one thing I know... 'Exotic' vet specialists, out of hours, are not only expensive, but are few and far between... I've just had to do a 120mile round trip, and been relieved of just under £600 (though that's not of concern).

Sorry to read your bad news but you have acted very quickly, so hopefully that will have helped. Im assuming the vet has advised you to keep your temperatures up 24/7 whilst he is on antibiotics? Good luck & please keep us imformed.

Perhaps share the name/address of this exotic specialist incase anyone else needs to contact one "out of hours?"
