Plants require the full spectrum of light to really grow. This does include UV but in normal cases this is not essential to germination and growth. We do use UV lamps in large hydro grows.
A strong UV lamp can be very detrimental to young plants as the lamps can cause lead burn. Something like jungledawn will force good growth with little heat and extreamly low running costs. In tests a 13w jungle dawn outperforms a 400w HPS lamp in terms of growth and yield! Just a thought P.s ignore those terrible LED systems that use red and blue cells, they don't work and it is bad science! John
