My new wall
 

This is my new garden wall, and my girlies new planted bit, which they love as the wall gets quite warm in the sun. There's holly hock and sea holly behind the cold frame, which will grow lovely and tall, and echinacea which is still in the pots, and a mallow , which I have had to wrap up as they were about to devour it.

Lovely size! Could you put some troughs on the recessed ledges? Or do they slope downwards?

A wall like that costs a few quid! Nice.

Lynn the recess ledges are sloping and not very wide, so I couldn't put anything on them.

Jonathan, your right, I'm sure it is a bit pricy, BUT, I didn't pay for it, my neighbour put it up, cos he wanted to build an extension on his house for his mum and she wanted a brick wall for her court yard garden, it's my boundary, but I'm very happy with it ! So we have decided to have a wall across the bottom of the garden too, which he is building in October, obviously he's not doing that one for free. So I feel very lucky.

Just above the cold frame is a brick with a hole in, that's for a solitary bee to make its winter home, I've already seen one checking it out !

You certainly are lucky Suze I've always wanted a walled garden. Love the idea of a home for the bee.

We have three bee nests in our bungalow and one in a bird box.
One of the bee nests has been there for about five years now and you can hear them in the lounge making real loud buzzing noises every few seconds which I assume is them keeping the temps correct.

No, the wall across the bottom of the garden will be another one like this one, with the pillars and recesses, I'm looking for a bench to put there as it gets the late afternoon sun. There will be a special hibernation shed built for the torts in another part of the garden. The torts will have the shed that is already at the bottom of the garden, for spring time and bad summer days.
