It's certainly a great space and a good start, and there's plenty more you can do to develope it , which is the fun part. I would perhaps take out the sand, as this can irritate their eyes and just have the soil, and then add a few more plants, because they do like hiding under woody plants like lavender, thyme, and grasses. You can look on the tortoise table site, to see what you can and can't plant safely. You can add pebbles , small rocks ( not sharp) a cold frame for warming, . But have some fun developing it.

A great start, but I would suggest a few more dwarf shrubs, as they need to be able to hide from the midday sun.
He/she will be able to escape that enclosure, as the pot sunk at one end, is great for him to climb up and over on. Also he can turn sideways through the open metal fencing if there is nothing behind it to stop him. Just a few tricks mine have played on me:0)
A few more large stones or logs will give him more interest to climb or sit on.

We didn't know about the sand, we'l take that out. We have some weeds and flowers in pots that we will put in and out of the run as he goes in it. Last year we place the weeds and flowers in the actual run and it was a nightmare as it became way too over grown!

The railings are set up a bit so I don't think he will be able to escape from it. We can look at moving the pot or making the fencing a bit higher

This is for my little ones, hope this gives you some ideas. The box on the right of the picture is waiting for a new lid.

Making the fencing higher is always better, as Horsfields are the escape artists of the tortoise world:0)

Oh sorry some one ! :-D Strong hair stands you in good stead.

Please do post again if you have added more. Suze one and yours can only benefit others to see how they evolve and become established.

I notice in wolfgangs book it is like a jungle and whilst I like it it probably could put people off. Every Garden should have a tortoise and every tortoise have a garden.
