Horsfield eggs taking their time!
I have 3 Horsfield eggs that are over 70 days now, what is the longest incubation anyone has had them hatch successfully? I am getting concerned that something has gone wrong as all my others have hatched at 60 days or there abouts.

Hi Bev, I don't know about Horsfields, my last Ibera hatched on day 70 though. Had to buy a super strong magilite torch and wait until it was night-time to make sure the little one was still with us. Good luck

I've had a few go 74 or 75 days Alley :D Post some pictures of the eggs (in the dark with a torch). Have you looked from the bottom up yet?

Ok, thanks Danny, I will take some this evening, they are 73 days today, I havent candled from underneath but will have a go at it later.

Sorry Dan the pics have failed  trying to hold the egg, hold the torch and take the pic didn't work!
I could see what looked like legs in one egg but couldnt decide with the others, I think my technique needs refining as I couldn't get the hang of it. I am wondering if they have died but have no idea why they would have as they were laid 3 days after another clutch which have all been in the same incubator and the other 2 hatched at 60 days. How long should I leave them before investigation? |
Are they still bright white? Do they have any blueish/black spots on them?
Danny |
They still look white

That's a good sign :D

Fingers crossed they're just late hatchers Alley and you'll have pipping in the next couple of days. x

Still waiting
I have a bad feeling that these have died. |
